Commercial - HVAC Systems and Make-Up Air Equipment

An air handler is part of HVAC systems used to condition and circulate air. A make-up air unit is a larger air handler usually located on the roof. The function of a make-up air unit is to condition all the air coming into your building but not the re-circulated air.

Building exhaust systems can remove large quantities of air from your building. In some cases, the building will experience negative pressure when the exhausted air is not replaced as fast as it is removed. Negative pressure makes outside doors hard to open, exhaust fans function poorly and the air quality of your building suffers. A make-up air system constantly replaces the air that is being removed and maintains a balance between the inside building pressure and the outside air pressure.

A standard make-up air unit brings in fresh air and passes it through filters removing dust and particulate. This air can be heated or cooled and blown directly into a building or ducted to targeted building locations.
